Are you all ready for a healthy taste of the tropics? This Tropical Smoothie recipe is not only delicious, but it’s great for you.

Smoothies are incredibly versatile as you can add just about anything you would to them, blend it up and test it to see if you liked the flavor combination. The great thing about finding a smoothie recipe online here at Noble is that you know it’s already been tested and someone (ME!) tried it and enjoyed it.

There are a few things I like about this tropical smoothie, one is the flavor…I love it when you sip on something and you feel like you are whisked away to a hammock under 2 palm trees. I also love the creaminess of this smoothie, adding the banana and avocado really gives you that creamy texture. Plus, I added yogurt which adds to that as well.

Alright, let’s chat a bit about the health benefits of the ingredients in the Tropical Smoothie then we will get to blending.

Florida Starbust Pummelo – Loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants, these big beautiful pieces of citrus are a must to add to your diet while they are in season!

Avocado – These green goddesses are also loaded with vitamins and “healthy fats.” When you enjoy an avocado you are getting vitamin C, E, K and B6…as well as potassium, fiber and magnesium.

Banana – Loaded with potassium, bananas are a great addition to your smoothie. Plus, like I mentioned, they make your smoothie extra creamy!

Mango – Well, you can’t have a tropical smoothie without mango in my opinion! Mangoes are  great source of magnesium and potassium. They are also said to help you with your complexion thanks to vitamin A and C.

As I mentioned above, I used yogurt in this smoothie. I had a sugar free Toasted Coconut variety in the refrigerator which I thought would be perfect…and it was! Feel free to experiment with plain, vanilla or your favorite flavor. You can also leave it out completely if desired, I would just add in some liquid!

Alright, here’s my Tropical Citrus Smoothie Recipe!

Oranges vs. Tangerines Per Capita was 80/20–Now is 60/40 (and Gaining)

According to the USDA, the Florida tangerine citrus group “has soared in popularity, with per capita availability more than doubling between 2000 and 2022. This broad group includes tangelos, mandarins, clementines, and traditional tangerines. A comparison of per capita fresh tangerine and fresh orange availability over the last 20 years shows the share going to tangerines increasing from 20 to 40 percent.”

The article goes on to say that growth of the U.S. tangerine market coincides with the launch of marketing campaigns for easy-peel seedless mandarins…”
